Individuals can compete in the North Carolina League, but what’s even more fun is having a team to train and race with. Whether you are a student or coach, the League wants to do everything we can to help you form a team at your local school. If you’d like to see a team form at your school, please contact us so we can help you out.
Types of Teams
There are two types of teams.
- School-Based Teams: Comprised of full-time students from the same high-school, public or private. School-based teams can be “official” or “unofficial”.
- Composite Teams: Comprised of full-time students from more than one school within the same district or other geographic proximity.
If there is not a team that covers your school a student athlete can compete as an independent racer in the League Series. While they will not be eligible for the Team Overall title, they are eligible for the Individual Race and Overall titles.
Home-schooled and online students who are enrolled in a North Carolina online charter school or are home schooled and who are domiciled within the attendance zone of a member school or composite team, may compete on the member school or composite team. If neither of these options are available to the student-athlete then the online or home school student may compete as an independent rider.
