Scholarship applications

We are proud to offer financial assistance to help ensure all North Carolina youth and families have the opportunity to experience everything NICA and youth mountain biking have to offer. This support reflects our commitment to inclusion, and in return, we ask for your commitment to fully participate with your team for the entire season. Financial assistance is available for both student-athlete and coach season fees.

In addition to scholarships, we offering a $50 discount for each additional student athlete registering within the same family. Families may request that discount via the scholarship form below.

We will review your application and strive to get back to you as soon as possible about the level of financial assistance we are able to offer.

TREK NICA PATHFINDERS SCHOLARSHIP

Through its continued partnership with NICA, Trek helps make mountain biking more accessible for student-athletes from communities of color who are ready to ride.

The Trek NICA Pathfinders Scholarship helps remove real barriers to participating in a NICA season by providing selected student-athletes with a bike, riding gear, and financial support for NICA and league fees.

Selected scholarship recipients receive a $365 stipend to help pay NICA and league fees, a Trek Marlin 5 mountain bike, a water bottle cage, a bike lock, and a Rally helmet. Specifications may change based on availability.

Pathfinders is designed for new and returning student-athletes who are ready to ride with their local NICA team but need help accessing the equipment and financial support required to participate. Together, Trek and NICA are working to make mountain biking more welcoming, more representative, and more possible for the next generation of riders.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION – SPRING LEAGUES

Families with student-athletes planning to ride with a spring league should apply during the application window listed below.

Important Dates:

  • August 22, 2026: Application opens
  • September 26, 2026: Application closes
  • October 7, 2026: Scholarship recipients notified, at the earliest
  • November 7, 2026: Deadline for submitting scholarship information to receive bikes by the start of the season
  • December 5, 2026: Final deadline for providing scholarship information. Incomplete scholarships will be forfeited.
